Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of mupirocin ointment infiltration covering the penile incision com-bined with the small underpants dressing method on postoperative recovery in hypospadias repair. Methods A total of 218 cases of hypospadias repair surgeries performed from January 2020 to June 2023 were selected.Based on the postoper-ative dressing method, patients were divided into a study group and a control group.General conditions, complications, and FLACC scores at different postoperative periods were compared between the two groups.Logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors influencing the occurrence of complications. Results The study group showed better outcomes in terms of the first time getting out of bed after surgery, the first dressing change time, time spent on the first dressing change, bleeding volume, number of dressing changes within 7 days, catheter dislocation, and wound healing time com-pared to the control group(P<0.05).The occurrence of itching around the wound in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The FLACC scores in both groups decreased over time, with the study group show-ing better scores than the control group(P<0.05).Factors such as catheter dislocation, wound infection, and wound healing time were identified as risk factors for postoperative complications. Conclusion The use of mupirocin ointment infiltration combined with the small underpants dressing method can reduce postoperative pain, decrease the number of dressing changes, and lower the occurrence of complications. This method ensures secure dressing fixation and facilitates nursing care, promoting postoperative recovery and worthy of clinical application.
